Britney Tops Google+ & Yahoo Video!

Britney Tops Google+ & Yahoo Video!
Britney Spears on Monday ousted Google(GOOG_) CEO Larry Page on Wednesday to become the most followed person on the Google Plus social network. The pop queen now boasts 739,370 followers on the social network, compared to Page's 739,241 followers.

Spears ascent to queen of Google Plus helps push the site away from techy early adopters and into the mainstream. Rapper Snoop Dogg is now the third most followed user on the site, followed by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and model Tyra Banks.

Google Plus launched in July and now boasts over 40 million users, Page said during the company's third-quarter earnings call. Yet the site, positioned as a rival to Facebook, has struggled with user engagement.
Interest in Google Plus may be faltering, as the number of public posts dropped 41% from July to September, according to Web services company 89n.

Facebook, in comparison, has seen its user growth taper slightly to 800 million members, but user engagement has increased 31% over last year, according to online performance marketing firm Efficient Frontier. Shares of Google fell 1.2% to $573 in afternoon trading on Wednesday.

Chris Marrs Piliero Talks Britney

Chris Marrs Piliero Talks Britney
"Criminal” director Chris Marrs Piliero opened up to MTV about working with Britney’s boyfriend Jason Trawick in the video.

At first, Piliero was not keen on the idea of featuring Jason in the video, but was up for the challenge. “When she first hit me up, she had a basic story in mind, and she actually always originally planned to have Jason, her boyfriend, play the role, and I wasn’t super stoked on that idea at first.”

“I wanted to make a really rad, epic video, and I definitely got the sense from her she wanted something really cool,” he explained. “And in my mind, I was just thinking then, ‘We really should not be using your boyfriend; we should get an actor.’ So, I mean, I didn’t say that, but in the back of my mind, I’m like, ‘I don’t like this idea at all.’ ”

“At the end of the day, Jason killed it. That was one of those things I was really stoked [about], as much as I went into it like, ‘Wow, he’s not an actor. This is going to be interesting,’ but I really do like a challenge, and I really do like the idea that I’m a director and my job is to direct and get the performance. For me, it was a fun challenge to be like, ‘I’m gonna make sure that you are awesome,’ and he was.”

Britney No Apologize For Criminal

Britney No Apologize For Criminal
Britney has finally broken her silence regarding controversy surrounding her "Criminal" music video. The 29-year-old beauty issued a statement on Monday, September 26, and from the sound of it, she apparently is not sorry because she believes she just acted out "a fantasy story."

The "Till the World Ends" singer was criticized by London's Hackney Council for carrying a gun when shooting the crime-themed music video in the Hackney borough which was wounded during the riot over the summer. She was asked to apologize, but she refuses to grant the request and insists that what she did is harmless.

In a defensive statement, Britney's camp said, "The video is a fantasy story featuring Britney's boyfriend, Jason Trawick, which literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened."

When voicing their anger towards Britney last week, the politicians did mention that "it is only a music video". They, however, pointed out that "it's images like this, with popstars glamorizing gangs, which means that some young people... get drawn in." They added, "Britney should really know better."

Just a few days before the protest arose, Britney herself said that she was happy with the video concept. "It's a really cool storyline," she gushed. "It's about a girl in upper society and her life, and the way she lives her life, is totally different from the person she's in love with. It's about bringing those two totally different characters together and what happens."

Criminal Video Details!

Criminal Video Details!Criminal Video Details!
Britney Spears has been a very busy girl. In between preparing for her massively successful Femme Fatale Tour and spending time with her children, the pop diva has done over a dozen interviews with various UK press outlets this week. A lot of the questions have been things we've heard Britney answer time and time again, but I perked up when someone finally got the concept for her new video out of her. "Criminal" is the fourth single off of Spears' hit album Femme Fatale, and she has been very hush-hush about the way she plans to bring the song to life on screen-- until now!

According to the Grammy winner herself, the storyline will reflect the lyrics of the song in telling the story of a girl in love with someone who is maybe not so good for her. "It's about a girl in upper society, and her life and the way she lives her life is totally different from the person that she's in love with," Spears told UK ITV1's This Morning. "It's about bringing those two totally different characters together." Sounds like a modern day Romeo and Juliet, but will it end the same way that tragic love story did? Spears isn't telling, but if the song lyrics are any indication, that may be the case. At the end of "Criminal", Spears laments that even though no one approves of the man she loves, she's sticking with him anyway ("I hear people talk / try to make remarks / keep us apart / but I don't even hear / I don't care").

One of the most exciting and fun things about being a Britney fan is her exciting music videos. While a lot of artists just kind of sing along and look pretty, Britney's clips almost always have an interesting storyline, fantastic set design, and beautiful costumes. Not to mention that Spears has always had major creative control over every aspect of the filmmaking. In 1998, she was just an unknown singer about to record the video for her first single "...Baby One More Time". The director, Nigel Barker, suggested that they turn Britney into a cartoon superhero, but she had other ideas. The then 16-year-old suggested the now iconic schoolgirl concept that fans are still copying today. "Baby" didn't have half the story in it that the song "Criminal" does, so this really should be one of her best music videos yet, and I couldn't be more anxious to see it.
