TTWE on MTV's 25 Best Songs Of 2011 List!

TTWE on MTV's 25 Best Songs Of 2011 List!
In 2011, we shuffled and shook it out. We found love and decided to dance until the world ends. We rolled in the deep and celebrated the boys with the booming systems. Shoot, at one point, we even went to Paris with Will Ferrell. It was, to say the very least, an interesting 12 months.

So, how else to sum up the year than with my picks for the 25 Best Songs of 2011: odes to partying and pumped-up kicks, songs of sadness and beauty, tunes about getting loaded and getting revenge. Pop, hip-hop, rock, bed-tronica, they're all here, and they're all important in some way, mostly because they all helped guide us through a rather tumultuous time. But that's enough from me, let's get to the songs. Oh, and I'd like to hear your picks too — drop me a line in the comments below. So now, on with the countdown.

#10. Britney Spears, "Till the World Ends": I have been accused (many times) of being a Brit basher and, sure, that's probably true, but not even I could deny this song. Super-charged star-burst synthesizers, robo-vocals and, of course, that iconic "Woah-Oh-Oh" chantalong, it's the party jam for the post-apocalyptic future. And because of all that, it's also an important song; not only a reminder that Britney is still capable of making truly terrific pop music, but that, really, she never stopped. And coming from one of her most ardent critics, that's high praise indeed.(MTV.COM)

Perez Hilton Talks Britney!

Get More: Music News

The first round of the Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years is well under way, and we asked celebrity blogger and Britney mega-fan Perez Hilton to weigh in on some of the closest competitions in the tournament:

"Sometimes" vs. "My Prerogative"
While "Sometimes" — as one of Britney's oldest videos — holds a special place in the hearts of her fans, Perez thinks "My Prerogative" has the advantage in this matchup. "In terms of video-making, spectacle, big grandiosity, 'My Prerogative' feels like a much larger to-do," Perez said. "If I was to pick a winner between these two, I would go with 'My Prerogative.' "
"Lucky" vs. "Boys"
"I am not a fan of the 'Boys' music video," Perez admitted of the clip, featuring Pharrell Williams and Mike Myers as Austin Powers. "To me, the competition between that and 'Lucky' is easy. 'Lucky' all the way.
"It's such a classic Britney video," Perez said about the clip, featuring Britney's movie-star alter-ego (in the pre-"Crossroads" world). "She looks so beautiful in it! It's from the golden era of Britney — those first few years where she was pretty much untouchable."
"I Wanna Go" vs. "Criminal"
Perez echoed other Britney experts' surprise that Britney's latest video, "Criminal," is significantly pulling ahead of "I Wanna Go."
"I think that 'I Wanna Go' is one of Britney's all-time best videos," Perez said. "She looked amazing in it, it's fun, it feels different for her, and she had never done a video quite like that before."
As for "Criminal," Perez shook his head. "I like the 'Criminal' video; I don't love it. I was also distracted and slightly unhappy with the casting of her boyfriend [Jason Trawick] in it."

Britney, Jonas, Lambert Won OMA 2011!

Britney, Jonas, Lambert Won OMA 2011!
MTV held the second installment of their O Awards, which honor musical achievements and oddities in the online community. Britney Spears picked up an O Award for an extremely memorable tweet to DJ Pauly D, while Joe Jonas snagged a trophy for his awe-inspiring ‘See No More’ lyric video.

In addition to Brit and Joe’s wins, Demi Lovato also represented the pop posse, picking up a win for keeping all of her fans up to date with a series of amazing cameraphone pictures. In addition to these three winners, Adam Lambert‘s army of fans known as ‘Glamberts’ were also honored with an O Award.

At the show, recording artists Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Travie McCoy and Tyler, the Creator showed up to the fun-filled award show. Robyn took the stage as the headlining act, singing ‘Call Your Girlfriend’ for the crowd, while Mac Miller, the Band Perry and the Alabama Shakes also performed. The MTV O Awards also broke a Guinness World Record for the Longest Team Dance Marathon, thanks to a troupe of dancers who grooved nonstop for 24 hours.

Credit To Britney's Dad

Credit To Britney's Dad
Britney Spears had a rough time a few years ago, but she managed to get through it and appears to be a stronger woman for it. At the time of her very public meltdown, Britney seemed more than a little angry over her father’s interference in her life. Jamie applied and won a conservatorship over his daughter which basically gave him complete control over her finances, medical care and any decision she would have normally made as an adult. Now, with a little hindsight and maturity, Britney realizes just what her father did. Britney’s return to the top of the music world was recognized at MTV’s VMAs when she received the Michael Jackson Vanguard award for her time in the industry. A source says, “Britney now recognizes that if her father hadn’t stepped in and taken the action that he had, well.…” Although it is still a very private situation, the source says, “Britney is now crediting Jamie for saving her life.” And thank goodness he stepped in when he did. Things were not looking good for Britney. Her children had been taken away from her, and she was headed down a road that could have ended very badly. The source claims, “Britney’s relationship with her dad is in a very, very good place now.” Her feelings were obvious backstage, “She was extremely emotional backstage before leaving for the VMAs and kept telling her daddy how much she loves him.” The conservatorship and her father’s hand have helped rebuild Britney’s personal and professional life. Britney is surrounded by people who love her and want what is best for her, something that was lacking before. A source reveals, “There is a very good chance that a decision could be made to pull the plug in early 2012.” Once that happens, her personal life may change as well. Her longtime boyfriend, Jason Trawick is ready to take their relationship to the next step. “Jason has made it known that he wants to marry Britney. It’s just a matter of timing of the engagement, and if the conservatorship is lifted off Britney personally, well, it makes it a lot easier for Jason to propose.”

Britney Tops MTV Best VMA Performance!

2. Britney Spears, 2001
"I'm A Slave 4 U"
All sexy and grown-up, Britney busted out in a big way at the 2001 VMAs, channeling the sauna vibe of her "I'm A Slave 4 U" video with a jungle-themed performance. Coincidentally, she also channeled the very un-sexy Jack Hanna, sauntering around with a bright yellow boa constrictor around her neck.

4. Madonna, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera; 2003
"Like A Virgin"/"Hollywood"
The Madonna-Britney kiss! Could we talk about anything else the day after the 2003 VMAs? And poor Christina, the camera cutting away as her and Madge lip-locked. The memorable medley kicked off with Britney and Christina Aguilera paying homage to Madonna's infamous "Like a Virgin" performance at the 1984 VMAs, topped off with Madonna -- dressed as a groom -- performing "Hollywood." But let's be real, the kiss was all that really mattered to the masses.

Britney MTV VMA Tribute Cheat Sheet

Britney MTV Tribute Cheat Sheet
David Edgar, of 96.1 KISS-FM radio, first met Britney Spears when she was just a 15-year-old girl who came to Pittsburgh with her family to promote her upcoming debut song, "... Baby One More Time."
Spears, who had dinner with Edgar at the Bravo! Cucina Italiana on McKnight Road in Ross, was one of many aspiring stars who meet him every year, hoping for radio exposure. Spears seemed a bit shy and intimidated by the limelight, while her parents seemed eager to get their daughter's career rolling after her stint in "The Mickey Mouse Club." It was hard for Edgar to tell whether Spears would be one of the singers who would become famous.
"I remember thinking, 'She's like a 15-year-old girl' -- and she was," says Edgar, operations manager for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment in Pittsburgh, which owns KISS-FM. "It was like the adults were talking and she was doing her own thing.
"Very quickly after that, anytime I ever met her, she was a complete pro in terms of meeting people and being pleasant and nice," Edgar says. "She's come a long way since then, that's for sure."
The now 29-year-old Spears, who since has sold about 67 million albums, is bringing her "Femme Fatale" tour, based on her seventh studio album, to Consol Energy Center on Friday.
The "Femme Fatale" album came out in the spring, and includes the current hit "I Wanna Go." The album, which has received many positive reviews, follows her "Circus" album in 2009. "Circus" represented Spears' comeback after her highly publicized breakdown, after a messy divorce from husband Kevin Federline, substance abuse, emotional meltdowns and the loss of custody of her two sons, Sean and Jayden.
With many loyal fans during the years, and a notable effort to rebuild her life, Spears is no Lindsay Lohan, and has many successful years ahead of her, Edgar says.
"She went through a bad patch," he says. "Unfortunately, for stars of her level, it's very public.
"It seems like Britney has put it back together again," Edgar says.
The "Femme Fatale" tour has had its rough patches, too. Many reviewers panned the concerts, saying that Spears just wasn't singing and performing that well. Many mid-price tickets, also, have been offered through Groupon. Yet, Gary Bongiovanni, editor of pollstar.com, says that most of the shows still have been relatively full.
Spears, a survivor, truly is making a strong comeback, Bongiovanni says.
"Personally, she's already doing better than I expected," he says. "She was off the scene for so long. She had almost become more of a tabloid star than a music star.
"Any time an artist disappears ... you never really know, until they come back, what the response is going to be," Bongiovanni says.

Here's the rundown of this mysterious document of what's said to be an eight-minute sequence...
00:20: Intro Video (ft. Inside Out/Mickey Mouse Club Theme)
01:10: …Baby One More Time (Selena Gomez)
00:55: I’m A Slave 4 U (Miley Cyrus)

00:25: Till The World Ends-Rap Verse (Nicki Minaj)
00:15: Till The World Ends-Acapella (Britney Spears)

Madonna will then apparently present Spears with a Lifetime Achievement award.
Spears has been nominated in the 'Best Pop Video' and 'Best Choreography' categories for her single 'Till The World Ends'
