Ke$ha : "Britney is Queen of Pop"

It's been a busy couple of years for America's filthiest pop gal Ke$ha. Since unleashing her worldwide breakout hit 'Tik Tok' in '09, she has gone on to release a string of boozy party hits, expanded her debut album Animal into the meatier Cannibal, and is responsible for Britney Spears's biggest worldwide hit since 'Toxic'. With her '$leazy' tour arriving in the UK this month, we phoned her up to find out what fans can expect from her live shows, as well as that all-important second album.  

You wrote Britney Spears's last single 'Till The World Ends'; did you get to meet her?
"I didn't get to see her record the track, but I have met her and she's super sweet. She's the queen of pop music, so it was quite a compliment that she wanted to record it. For her to then put it out as a single is f**king amazing. That song was written specifically for Britney - I put my brain in Britney Spears land and wrote that whole song for her."

Are you going to try to get her to return the favour and appear on your album?
"Totally, I would f**king love that. She's an icon!" (Digitalspy).

Ke$ha Will Make Appearance at FFT

The singer revealed she would love to support the pop princess during her shows but for now she is simply trying to attend one of her gigs.

The 21-year-old, who is set to play British music festival Glastonbury this weekend, explained that the two stars are never usually in the same country, let alone the same city.

"I really hope we can make it work,” she said during a recent interview when asked if touring with Britney would be a possibility. “I know people who saw some early previews of Britney's show and said it was amazing - so I can't wait to go myself. If we’re ever in the same city at the same time then I’ll totally crash her tour!"

Ke$ha, who has enjoyed chart success with hits such as party anthem Tik Tok, has written music for other artists, including Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus.

She explained what it is like to write for someone else and revealed that the most personal song she has ever written is The Harold Song.

“It’s very different. I enjoy it. I like being able to put my brain into other people’s brain. When I’m writing for myself it's really personal and very, very honest. When I’m writing for other people, I try to put myself in their shoes,” Ke$ha added. “I have never written such an intimate song as The Harold Song so I’m really proud of that one. I always like to talk sh*t and have my bad ass front, but that song is very genuine and very honest and very vulnerable. I think that's one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written. Playing it live can be hard to sing because it’s so real.” (musicrooms.net)

Ke$ha Meets Her Idol, Britney Spears

Ke$ha meets fellow pop phenom Britney Spears for the first time outside the Just Jared lounge at 102.7 KIIS FM’s Wango Tango 2011 at Staples Center on Saturday (May 14) in Los Angeles.

“Britney is a pop icon,” K$ told Just Jared after the encounter. “She is larger than life. But it’s great to see that even Brit is just a cool laid back southern girl.”

Ke$ha wrote “Till The World Ends” for Britney but they hadn’t met and hung out - until Wango Tango!

Other pictures include Ke$ha with her kickass mom, songwriter Pebe Sebert. (They worked on a number of K$ songs together including “Your Love Is My Drug,” “Cannibal,” “Crazy Beautiful Life,” and “We R Who We R.”)

FYI: Selena Gomez was also in the hallway when Britney emerged from her dressing room backstage. “Oh my god, Britney Spears just waved at me,” she said as she clutched her heart. Selena’s friends were trying to convince her to go back and say hello but Sel was too starstruck!
